Overview of Role
As an Application Services Analyst, you’ll find yourself in a role that combines the thrill of a career move with the tranquil beauty of Cornwall. Your primary focus will be on delivering exceptional customer service, handling support inquiries, and collaborating closely with our dedicated team. Together, we manage essential student application systems, and you’ll be the trusted expert providing 2nd line IT support. Our systems, including SITS, Admissions Portal, and timetabling, play a pivotal role in the student journey, making your role both meaningful and impactful.
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
Building strong relationships and working independently, soaking in the scenic vistas of Cornwall while making a difference within our IT Services and esteemed institution.
Offering expert application lifecycle management in the midst of Cornwall’s natural wonders.
Collaborating seamlessly with our 3rd line support team when the waves of challenges rise.
Providing friendly, semi-technical guidance and support to users of our university management systems, all while breathing in Cornwall’s fresh sea breeze.
Desirable qualifications and skills:
A passion for student management systems, admissions processes, and timetabling systems.
Experience with Windows SQL Server, JavaScript, or web technology, combined with the serenity of Cornwall’s landscapes.
Managing calls through our service desk system while taking breaks to admire Cornwall’s captivating beauty, and contributing to management reports and service KPIs.
A keen understanding of Higher Education (with training and mentoring available to let you grow).
Accountabilities 💼
Involvement in annual upgrade processes, much like the changing seasons in Cornwall.
Collaborating with the test team to ensure successful release management, just as Cornwall’s tides ebb and flow.
Monitoring and responding to system alerts while taking moments to appreciate Cornwall’s tranquillity.
Reporting on information quality, data, and archiving, as you immerse yourself in Cornwall’s rich history.
Identifying areas for improvement and occasionally supporting development projects, mirroring Cornwall’s continuous growth.
Key Skills and Experience
Qualifications:
Educated to degree level or equivalent, with the opportunity to further your education in Cornwall’s inspiring surroundings.
ITIL foundation or above, with room to grow alongside Cornwall’s thriving tech community.
Technical Knowledge of student management systems, especially SITS, enhanced by Cornwall’s unique backdrop.
SQL or related database query languages, with the possibility to learn and explore while living in Cornwall’s embrace.
An understanding of IT Systems in a Higher Education environment, deepened by Cornwall’s academic excellence.
Problem diagnosis skills, honed amidst Cornwall’s diverse challenges.
Hands-on knowledge of release management and system upgrade projects, supported by Cornwall’s spirit of progress.
Preferably you will have experience of delivering and managing technology as a service, alongside Cornwall’s evolving tech landscape.
Other skills, knowledge, or aptitudes:
Ability and skill to pass on knowledge to others, sharing the beauty of learning in Cornwall.
Previous experience in a Service Desk environment or customer service would be advantageous but not essential
Strong interpersonal, communication, and document writing skills, with the art of conversation thriving in Cornwall.
Understanding of an enterprise/complex support environment, where Cornwall’s unique challenges enrich your perspective.
Ability to adapt quickly to changing technologies and processes much like the dynamic environment of Cornwall.
Strong fault-finding/diagnostic/troubleshooting skills, keeping the wheels turning smoothly in Cornwall.
Effective time management skills, allowing you to balance work and the leisurely pace of life in Cornwall.
